Portugal among 10 preferred international luxury destinations for this summer

The survey comes from Condé Nast Johansens, which indicates that countries like Portugal make up the list of 10 destinations that will receive predominantly luxury tourists.

The poll was conducted in January 2023 among 63,000 subscribers to the VIP newsletter of this global hotel guide, where countries such as the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Portugal, France, Greece, Ireland, Croatia, the United States, and the Caribbean make up the list of top 10 destinations that will receive predominantly luxury tourists.

The trend of previous years continues, in which luxury travelers are splitting their vacations into three or four getaways per year. According to the survey conducted by Condé Nast, at least 38% of luxury travelers say they intend to spend up to 8000€ for each vacation period and per person, adding a total of 32,000€ by the end of this year.

The forecasts predict that the preferred dates to take this year's summer vacation period is during September, followed by May and June. The same study also indicates that, for this summer, beach destinations are chosen for longer stays, while city destinations are reserved for small getaways of a few days.

The survey points to luxury travelers over the age of 55 going on vacation. 61% versus 32% of study participants between the ages of 35 and 54. According to Condé Nast Johansens, when asked about the length period of the trips, 3% of the participants assure that they will be traveling between seven and ten days per trip.
