Released for the second year running, RankPorto recognizes the leading indices that make the city stand out both nationally and internationally. The document made available by the Municipality shows how, in 2022, Porto distinguished itself in areas such as Urbanism, Tourism and the Economy, but also with essential projects and recognitions in terms of the Environment, Education, and Quality of Life.

After a first report, made available in 2022, Porto City Council has classified new areas of intervention, added rankings, and updated the city's positioning, comparing it with similar international municipalities from a demographic, economic, and strategic point of view.

The aim is to contribute to understanding Porto's performance in different fields of intervention, providing opportunities for improvement.

On an economic level, Porto has been recognized in several international rankings in the areas of attracting/capturing foreign investment, innovation and entrepreneurship, and in 2023 it even achieved the top position in investment attraction strategy for European Cities and Regions of the Future (fDi Strategy), a distinction awarded by the Financial Times.

In the Mobility sector, the "Best Medium-Sized Airport in Europe" is Francisco Sá Carneiro for the 15th time, making it the 7th best in Europe and the 54th in the world.

In terms of the environment, the highlights include the administration of the urban water cycle and the improvement of its quality, which has earned recognition with the "Seal of exemplary quality of water for human consumption", as well as the award of the Blue Flag on nine of the city's beaches, including the "Gold Quality" flag on Praia do Homem do Leme.

With its Historic Center has been a Unesco World Heritage Site for 26 years, Porto was named one of the best cultural destinations in Europe in 2022, putting the city on the same level as internationally renowned and sought-after destinations due to their cultural and historical heritage, such as Lisbon, London, Rome, and Venice.

Among the 30 most popular tourist cities in Europe, Porto was also recently recognized as the best to explore on foot and saw its gastronomy, culture, and nightlife, as well as community life highlighted by Time Out magazine.

Monocle magazine also ranked Porto as the 10th Best Small City in terms of quality of life, considering "business opportunities", "hospitality" and "accessibility" as attractive factors, and the Food and Travel Awards distinguished Invicta as "The City of the Year", surpassing cities such as Barcelona, Edinburgh, London, Melbourne, New York, Paris, Vancouver, and Vienna.
