The president of Porto and Northern Region Tourism of Portugal says that 2023 will be a "record year" for the number of guests and overnight stays and guarantees that the North will not adhere to greenwashing practices.

Despite the galloping increases in tourist and hotel taxes, the Porto and Norte region has registered a significant increase compared to the rest of the country.

The numbers were announced as part of the presentation of the "Sustainable Movement", an event at the Electric Car Museum in Porto, where Luís Pedro Martins stated that the region is growing in a very interesting way:

“Our performance has, in fact, been fantastic. We've been growing at a rate of 30%, both in terms of the number of guests and the number of overnight stays. I think we're going to pass the 2022 figures. We're going to pass six million guests, we're going to pass 11 and a half million overnight stays," said the President of Tourism in Porto and the Northern Region of Portugal.

Luís Pedro Martins also recorded that 2023 will be a "record year" at Francisco Sá Carneiro airport. "Today we have 29 companies operating at Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport. We have 105 routes, which means we are connected to 105 destinations. Today, an average of 50,000 tourists arrive at Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport every day."
