L'Égoïste Bar & Restaurant, in the heart of Porto, is part of the Renaissance Porto Lapa Hotel and stands for its commitment to innovation while honoring the traditional Portuguese flavors and sustainable practices.

Led by chefs Duarte Batista and Ricardo Tiago, the restaurant, which recently celebrated its first anniversary, has quickly gained recognition for its elegant dining space and the unique panoramic views with a rooftop pool bar. Highlighting its dedication to environmental standards, this Mercan Portugal project is the very first hotel in Portugal to receive the prestigious LEED Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

Not only is it sustainable in its operation, but its cuisine emphasizes the use of fresh, local ingredients to create dishes that evoke a sense of home and comfort from various Portuguese regions. For instance, their "tiborna de bacalhau" is inspired by the traditional cuisine of Beira Baixa, featuring thinly sliced cod on toasted bread with a broth of orange peels and fresh olive oil. Other menu highlights include a chickpea stew with lamb from Alentejo and a fish rice dish infused with a citrusy, Asian twist, showcasing the chefs' ability to blend traditional Portuguese recipes with modern culinary techniques.

In addition to savory dishes, the restaurant also offers a creative dessert menu curated by pastry chef Ricardo Tiago. The desserts reinterpret traditional sweets with bold combinations, such as pairing gin and tonic with the custardy dessert "Abade de Priscos," or sheep cheese with chocolate and plum. With this innovative approach, L'Égoïste aims to elevate the dining experience, blending nostalgic Portuguese flavors with contemporary flair, making each meal a memorable event for its patrons.
