Casa da Companhia, Vignette Collection, was highlighted in NewInTown (NiT) Porto Magazine: A new food truck in Porto serving Portuguese-style fish & chips (and yes, it includes cod). Located on Rua das Flores in Porto, the Casa da Companhia hotel has set up a food truck in its courtyard, known as the “Pátio da Casa,” where a Portuguese version of the famous fish & chips with cod is served.

The “Cod & Chips” is a creation by chef Miguel Rocha Vieira and can be enjoyed in a grab-and-go format or on the terrace, situated in front of the food truck with 12 seats available. The menu also includes drink options such as soft drinks, lemonade, and beers.

“This was something I wanted to do for a long time. As a lover of Portuguese cuisine, I realized that cod is such an iconic symbol of Portugal and deserved its own stage in an innovative way. We wanted to combine the tradition of cod with the popularity of British fish & chips,” explains the chef responsible for the management of F&B at the hotels managed by AHM – Ace Hospitality Management.

The chef emphasizes that “the quality of the raw materials must be the starting point, and we managed to guarantee this with the Portuguese brand Lugrade. When I visited the factory with Chef Diogo Rocha, the brand ambassador, I could see the various parts of the cod and the different curing methods. I realized that I had found a product of excellence and, therefore, the ideal partner.”

The dish is made with fresh cod loin, seasoned in brine, and then coated in a batter made with dark beer, with a touch of curry. The Cod & Chips is served with potatoes and a tartar sauce flavored with parsley, tarragon, and chervil. The Pátio da Casa is located on Rua do Ferraz, a side street off Rua das Flores, and is open every day from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
