There isn’t a Portuguese household without a folar on the table come Easter Sunday. Blending tradition and innovation, and crafted under the signature of Pastry Chef Ricardo Tiago, the Folar das Lérias is a limited-edition Easter treat available exclusively during April.

Located in the heart of Amarante, the café at the historic Casa das Lérias once again delights visitors with a seasonal creation that pays tribute to Portugal’s Easter traditions. This original version of the traditional Easter folar, created by Pastry Chef Ricardo Tiago, reinvents the classic with flavors and textures inspired by the most iconic conventual sweet of the city.

“Folar is one of the most symbolic treats of Easter in Portugal, representing friendship, unity, and sharing. It's traditionally gifted by godmothers to their godchildren on Easter Sunday as a gesture of affection and celebration. With the Folar das Lérias, we want to be part of that tradition—while adding an extra special flavor,” explains Chef Ricardo.

This limited-production delicacy features multiple layers of Lérias and almond cake—a key ingredient in traditional Portuguese pastry—filled with a refreshing, balanced lemon cream and topped with chocolate-covered eggs.

Recognized with 4th place in the “Best Innovative Folar” category by ACIP – the Portuguese Bakery Industry Association – the Folar das Lérias is available for purchase at the Casa das Lérias café through April 30, priced at €17.50 per unit.

Orders must be placed at least 48 hours in advance by calling +351 255 245 660. Payment is due upon pickup.
