With colder days in mind, the restaurant invites families and friends to gather around a traditional dish full of comfort and heritage. The new Sunday offering becomes available on December 7.

Chaparro Alentejano, the restaurant integrated into Holiday Inn Beja, has introduced a new offer for Beja’s colder season, reinforcing its connection to comfort food and Alentejo tradition. Starting December 7, Sundays at lunchtime will revolve around Maria’s Feijoada, a classic Portuguese dish served as part of a complete menu designed for sharing with family or friends.

The concept aims to revive the ritual of Sunday family lunches—meals that stretch into long conversations, set to the rhythm of a dish that requires time, dedication, and generous quantities. Precisely for this reason, it is often not prepared at home. Maria Duarte, one of Chaparro Alentejano’s cooks since nearly the very beginning and deeply knowledgeable in Alentejo regional cuisine, embraces this authentic gastronomic endeavor. In her experienced hands, a feijoada is born as tradition demands: slow-cooked, abundant, and meant to arrive at the table in a home-like atmosphere.

Maria’s Sunday Feijoada in the Heart of Beja

Starting December 7, every Sunday at lunchtime, Chaparro Alentejano will serve a fixed menu featuring Maria’s Feijoada—a dish poised to become a beloved winter tradition in Beja and to make the restaurant the city’s meeting point. Centered on a warm, comforting, and typical recipe, it offers the perfect excuse to bring family or friends together around the table.

The Sunday menu is priced at 21 euros per person and includes a couvert with Alentejo bread served in a talego, olive oil, and seasoned olives, paving the way for the anticipated Maria’s Feijoada as the main course, followed, of course, by Maria’s Dessert. Beverages are included—water, Chaparro Alentejano red or white wine, and coffee or tea—making for a relaxed format that encourages lingering conversations at the table.

Children aged 4 to 12 enjoy a 50 percent discount on the menu price, making this offer especially appealing for family Sunday lunches.

With this new Sunday lunchtime feature, Chaparro Alentejano reinforces its commitment to regional cuisine and comfort food, highlighting a dish that calls for time and sharing, served in a welcoming environment in the center of Beja.
